Day 2: What Are You Stepping Away From? Crafting Your Own Shabbat – A 6-Day Journey to Rest
We can’t talk about rest without talking about boundaries.
Because real rest doesn’t just happen—it’s protected.
Today’s focus is this:
What are you ready to put down, just for one day?
For me, I needed to step away from work. From school deadlines. From the constant drip of social media and news. From texts and calls and all the tiny demands that chip away at peace. I didn’t need to disappear from life—but I did need to carve out quiet within it.
🧠 Journal Prompt:
What pulls you out of your peace?
What are you holding that could be set down for 8, 12, or even 24 hours?
Examples to consider:
- Work or email
- Texting and calls
- Social media and news
- Decision-making
- Productivity guilt
- Chores or errands
✅ Call to Action: Create your “Not This” list
Write down 2–5 things you will *not* engage with this Saturday.
> You’re not avoiding these things because they’re bad.
> You’re pausing because *you’re worth the break.*
Then ask yourself:
What can I do to protect these boundaries?
Try one of these:
- Turn on Do Not Disturb
- Set an auto-reply or away message
- Let your people know you’ll be offline
- Physically move your phone or work tools out of sight
📆 Tomorrow:
We’ll explore what you want to *step into.* Your “Yes Please” list is coming next.
